Moskva hotel

A Walk through Time

For more than a century, in the heart of the Serbian capital, there lies the Hotel Moskva - one of the oldest and most famous hotels in this country and entire region. As Belgrade became larger and more modern, the Hotel Moskva started occupying an increasingly important place in its history.

Since its founding in 1908, when this hotel was officially inaugurated by King Petar I Karadjordjevic personally, more than 45 million people have passed through this hotel, and over 4.5 million guests have woken up in its rooms and apartments. A good part of that phenomenal statistic consists of worldly wise famous people who marked the time behind us, such as Albert Einstein, Ana Pavlova, Leonid Brezhnev, Indira Gandhi, Ray Charles, Momo Kapor, Ivo Andrić, Peter Handke, Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, Maxim Gorky, Kirk Douglas, and many, many others.

The walls of "Moskva" hide a rich history, and the premises of this hotel have always been an ideal setting for grand celebrations, organized for very important guests and moments in time. Famous guests often created a good atmosphere for the hotel visitors themselves. Thus, the legendary Toma Zdravković, known as the great Serbian bohemian, used to leave the room with a glass in his hand and compose his songs on the spot, which soon became great hits and bohemian anthems.

Hotel Moskva is also the cradle of the far-famed Moskva schnitte, whose original recipe is still jealously guarded at this hotel, ever since the head of the first patisserie at the Moskva Hotel, Anica Dzepina, created it back in 1974 as a completely original cake with walnut and almond crust, cherries and vanilla cream. Guests can still, only in "Moskva", enjoy this creamy cake and various other specialties, with the sounds of live piano throughout the day. Only in Hotel Moskva, steak tartare is served the way it used to be, according to the original recipe from 1920.

Hotel Moskva is simply a part of the history that still lasts.
