58th International Congress of Americanists (ICA) in Novi Sad
The Congress officially opened last night with a memorable inaugural ceremony, and our team members Darja Butigan and Dejan Crnomarkovic were privileged to be among the guests at the Serbian National Theatre.
This year marks a historic moment — 150 years since the first edition of the ICA, making it one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious academic gatherings dedicated to the study of the Americas from a global perspective. From 30 June to 4 July 2025, Novi Sad will be the meeting point for a vibrant international academic community, convened under the motto of the 58th ICA: “New challenges, New spaces”.
The evening featured an inspiring and diverse cultural program that celebrated the international spirit of the Congress. The ceremony was a true festival of global cultural exchange, with a special highlight being the flamenco performance “Aromas del Sur” by the Diego Valdivia Company, courtesy of the Embassy of Spain in Serbia.
